As can be seen their last encounter was five year ago and since then both have changed. However, Federer is fresh from his Madrid win, and should not find any difficulty in subduing the Spaniard.
Federer has lost only one of his last ten matches at Miami against Raonic. But Ferrero has had a troubled 2012 so far as he has lost seven of his last ten matches played. He last lost to I. Andreev 6-4 7-6(4) in Madrid recently.
